| Location |
Shigakukan
High School is located in Nagoya city, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
The city has the fourth largest population in the country, and
is also the center of Aichi Prefecture.
The 2005 World Exposition Aichi, Japan was held in Nagoya. The Central Japan
International Airport ( Centrair ) was opened in Feb 2005, just in time for the
exposition.
Aichi prefecture is in the center of Japan, lying between Tokyo and Osaka. TOYOTA
MOTOR CORPORATION, which is famous for its cars, is in the prefecture. The
prefecture is also the center of other leading industries in Japan.
Aichi faces Ise bay and Mikawa gulf. The Kiso river, which is considered
as the eighth longest river in Japan, runs in the west. And in the northeast,
we are blessed with verdant mountains and its natural scenic beauty.

| History |
Shigakugan High School is managed by an educational foundation
called Shigakkan University. The foundation has a graduate
school, a university, a junior college, a high school and a kindergarten.
Chukyo Sewing Girlsf School, the former Shigakukan High School,
was established in 1905 and changed to Chukyo Womenfs University
High School in 1948. It is the third oldest high school in this
area, and has a long tradition and history.
Our name changed to Shigakukan High School, a coeducational
school, from Chukyo Womenfs University High School in April,
2005. |

| Course Guide |
Our
school has three departments: General, Domestic Science and Commercial,
and each have their own distinctive courses.
[ General Department ]
Advanced Course
Preparatory course for college and university education.
Students will focus on taking the National Center for University Examination
in Japan to enter elite universities. Teachers will support the students by the
tutorial system.
Overseas Course
In Aichi, this is the first course of its kind and like no other high school
programs. All students in this course will study in New Zealand for a year staying
with a family. During their stay, they will be exposed to a different culture.
The course aimed at is making students internationally-minded people.
All credits earned in New Zealand will be accredited to the studentsf scholastic
records in Japan. Students will be able to graduate in three years. Students
will aim to pass STEP, 2nd grade, gain a high score on TOEFL and also try
to enter elite private universities. In addition, a three-month course instead
of one year studying abroad is available.
University Prep. Course
Students study hard to pass the entrance examination for university. They also
seek to improve themselves and become better people. Teaching staff encourage
students to achieve their goals.
Sports Science Course
Students acquire skills for playing sports. They also learn a lot about health
and sports theory. This course has produced many excellent athelete, including
an Olympic player and an inter-high- school athletic champion.

Life-design Course
We include special knowledge and techniques needed for todays lifestyle, we
can train students to produce a new life.
[ Commercial Department ]
General business Course
We train students in bookkeeping and accounting to acquire a basic ability
in finance. Students also develop talents in internationalization
and intelligence in computer usage and English. |
